So you’ve got your new digital SLR camera but now you need a bag to keep that baby safe. You thought picking your camera was hard, well picking a bag to protect it is just as hard as you’re probably finding out. There are a plethora of choices out there when choosing the right camera bag. Lowepro, Kata, Tenba, Domke, Crumpler, and Tamrac are some of the bigger camera bag manufacturers. Some Nikon camera bags and Canon camera bags are re-branded Lowepros for example. I would advise to stay away from the re-branded bags unless you can get them for a very good price as they’ll usually charge more just for having the camera manufacturer’s name on it.

Here I’ll review some of the camera bags I’ve used over the past years, their pros and cons, price points, what they’re best suited for, and my personal opinion. There are many choices out there and I hope to help you find the right bag. Below are some of the bags I’ll be reviewing.

Now as to where to buy them, my personal favorite is at a place called “Photococan” located in Quebec, Canada (I live in Canada). They have their own website as well as a store on ebay where they sell their bags for much cheaper. If you can’t find a bag on their ebay or official website, give them a call and they’ll most likely be able to get the bag in for you at a very reasonable price. Their prices were much better than my local camera stores (Future Shop, London Drugs, Best Buy, Broadway Camera) by a significant amount. Their customer service is great and if you need your bag the next day, they can definitely accommodate you (I’ve had to get one of mine quickly once). I think I’ve ordered 3-4 bags from them so far and have recommended them to many of my friends, none of them have had any issues with them. PS. I’m in no way associated with them, just a happy customer!
